Delivered by specialist British teachers, the curriculum is designed to be both broad and challenging, ensuring that every student develops deep subject knowledge alongside essential skills such as critical thinking, effective communication, and independent study. Key Stage 3 Curriculum

Year 9

In Year 9, Secondary pupils continue with the integrated British-Spanish approach while beginning preparations for IGCSEs. This includes introducing GCSE-level Science and Mathematics content into classes while continuing to build their understanding across all other subjects.

Secondary subjects include Mathematics, English Language and Literature, Science, Physical Education, Art & Design, PSHE, Public Speaking, Humanities, French, German, Mandarin, Music, Drama, Computing, Spanish, Sociales, and Valencian. Secondary school learners are also required to participate in enrichment activities, ensuring holistic development.

Key Stage 4 Curriculum

Years 10-11

Year 10 marks the beginning of the next phase in the British system, culminating in the IGCSE exams taken at the end of year 11. This is an intensive period of study, requiring students to become more independent in their study habits to ensure they are fully prepared. Our leading Secondary School in Alicante allows students to choose at least four additional subjects, including one science from a wide range of options. These are studied alongside several compulsory courses. Students receive extensive guidance when choosing subjects, ensuring they align with their ambitions, talents, and interests.
Teachers monitor progress closely, utilizing AI-based programs and regular assessments to identify and close gaps as they arise. At least one extracurricular activity must also be taken to ensure a balanced education.

How do we Prepare Secondary Students for University?

Our careers and university guidance programme begins in Middle school and continues throughout their senior years. This ensures pupils are prepared for the critical decisions they must make about their academic future well ahead of time. Early activities include self-discovery exercises, skills profiling, and CV development, establishing a foundation for informed and confident decision-making. As students progress, they meet guest speakers from a range of industries, participate in pathway fairs, and receive one-to-one counselling to support their IGCSE choices and Sixth Form planning.

Our Secondary School in Alicante uses the Unifrog platform and psychometric testing to help students identify their strengths and match them to appropriate university courses and career paths. For families considering Spanish universities, we provide full support with PCE and UNED processes, and the reintroduction of A-Levels offers an additional direct-access route to Spanish higher education.
